ALpHASET
- A no-bake foundry binder system utilizing new, unique technology
developed and patented by Borden. Providing improvements to the
foundry environment, this two-part, water soluble resin system
allows the production of improved quality castings.
Advantages:
BETASET
- The same breakthrough chemistry which has yielded ALpHASET was
developed for cold box applications. Cured with a vaporized methyl
formate gas. Beta Set achieves a fast cure and can be applied
in a highly automated environment.
Advantages:
-
No
or low nitrogen
-
No unpleasant odors
-
Good Core Storage
-
Good Shakeout in Aluminum
-
Potential for Reduced Emission Control
-
No Sulphur
-
Use Plant Air
-
Reduced Expansion Defects
The
BETASET process has two distinct advantages over other existing
organic cold box systems, specifically: environmental improvement
and casting quality. The environmental improvement is due to the
fact that the resin is water based and therefore does not have
the odors of VOC issues associated with solvent based systems.
The methyl formate curing agent, BETACURE 100, has no apparent
unpleasant odor under normal conditions. This characteristic makes
the BETASET process more acceptable to employees.
SIGMA
CURE
- A phenolic urethane cold box resin that is the best in the business
when it comes to high core strengths, long mixed sand bench life,
humidity resistance and release characteristics that can't be
matched.
SIGMA
SET - Borden's phenolic urethane no-bake system offers
the same unique high performance chemistry featured in Sigma Sure
cold box resins, but modified for no-bake operations. Sigma Set
resins are patented, high performance, phenolic resins. Patented
chemistry provides the highest hot strength available for this
type of resin. Additional patented chemistry provides very low
residual free formaldehyde with no sacrifice I either tensile
strength or other performance characteristics.
SUPER
SET - Furan and Phenolic acid cured no-bake resins.
These are produced in a wide variety with variations in nitrogen,
water and furfryl alcohol content sufficient to accommodate any
casting application.
Advantages:
-
Low
nitrogen, low water
-
Low free formaldehyde and zero phenol
-
Very low viscosity
-
High tensile strength
-
Exceptional sand reclaimability
-
No modifiers or extenders
SODIUM SILICATE -
A full range of premium grade sodium silicate mold and core binders
are available. These grades can be cured by CO2 gassing and/or
ester no-bake type catalyzing. The various grades have characteristics
for good collapsibility, mold making, ladle linings, and are suitable
for all types of metal.
